Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras has announced the appointment of Albert Kruger, who comes to the organisation with vast experience of international and local events, commercial, community and networking, as their new CEO.
Kruger says his vision for Mardi Gras is to build on its solid foundations and grow the organisation’s global profile. He is inspired by the cultural heritage of the organisation and the LGBTQI+ community it serves, dedicated to ensuring its financial viability and committed to building on the organisation’s diversity and inclusion agenda.
“We are delighted to have Albert come on board as CEO following a rigorous recruitment process,” say Mardi Gras Co-Chairs Kate Wickett and Adrian Phoon.
“We look forward to welcoming him to Mardi Gras on the eve of our 2020 season, and to harnessing his energy, professional acumen and passion for our diverse LGBTQI+ community.”
Kruger will take up his new role as Mardi Gras CEO in January, ahead of 2020’s Mardi Gras festival, which runs from 14 February to 1 March. The 42nd annual Mardi Gras Parade and Party is on Saturday 29 February, with the theme What Matters. For more information, visit: www.mardigras.org.au for details.
