OutStanding Short Story Competition entries closing soon

OutStanding-Short-Story-CompetitionTime is running out to get your entries into Australia’s premier creative writing event for the LGBTQIA+ community, the OutStanding Short Story Competition.

The annual competition provides a safe and supportive environment for both emerging and established writers to share their stories.

Stories need be 750 words or less and have relevance to the broader Australian or New Zealand LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer +) community. The Theme for 2022 is Surprise Ending.

Entries might express the triumph and joy of alternate sexuality, or the pain and difficulty. Stories might be funny or sad, sweet or bitter, outrageous or introspective.

Australia has, of course, a rich tradition of LGBTQIA+ literature. Local poets and authors have been expressing our peculiarly antipodean experience for decades, perhaps even centuries.

The 2022 OutStanding Short Story Competition is now open and closes at 11.59pm (AEDT) – Wednesday 1 September 2022.
