Northern Star Productions has announced the principal cast and released the trailer for their new Australian comedy-drama, Michael and Phillip!
Set in contemporary Melbourne, Michael and Phillip follows the two titular young men across an ordinary day where the mishaps and misfortunes of their nearest and dearest keep things from running smoothly.
The humour is not derived from the characters’ sexual orientation, but rather the people in their lives, who turn every situation into a chaotic farce, while Michael and Phillip simply wish to ‘get on with their lives’.
A classic love story with a contemporary twist, Michael and Phillip play it straight as the eclectic people in their lives provide the humour and drama that makes the boys’ road to happiness a bumpy but unforgettable ride.
Based off his smash-hit play, Michael and Phillip are Getting married in the Morning, this eight-part series is written and directed by Wayne Stellini and features Bayne Orion Bradshaw (Michael), Ryan Stewart (Phillip), James Fraser (Blaine) and Chloe Towan (Tally).
The creative team includes Dillon Pearce (Director of Photography), Elliotte Frankie (1st Assistant Director), Naomi Barr (Choreographer) and features original music by Natalie Jeffreys. Michael and Phillip is produced by Wayne Stellini, Bayne Orion Bradshaw and Courtney Crisfield.
“Our goal is to create a new, fresh Australian Comedy that has international appeal through its celebration of love, friendship, and the family we choose,” says Stellini.
With the flair and fabulousness of Beautiful People, the unrelenting humour of Will & Grace, the rawness of Please Like Me, and Queer as Folk-style celebration of the family we choose, Michael and Phillip is all about love winning … no matter what!
