Bakers, cake-lovers, spectators, and a host of celebrities and entertainers will gather at the infamous Imperial Hotel on Sunday 3 August for a once in a life time fairy tale extravaganza!
Now, in its 27th year and riding on the back of BGF’s 30th anniversary, the 2014 Bake Off will be bigger and better than ever. A fun, colourful, creative, community event to raise money to help the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation continue to provide vital and diverse services to support people living with HIV – practically, emotionally and financially.
Hosted over two levels by Patrick Abboud from SBS2 show The Feed and the hilarious Aunty Mavis with Candy Box as Maitre D’, there’ll be loads of fun and games for all to enjoy. You’ll be entertained by some of the best with performances by Dawn Service, Miss 3D, Campanosity and Cindy Pastel with more secrets in store.
With Once Upon A… Bake Off as the theme this year, contestants and guests are asked to keep their favourite fairy tales in mind when decorating and to wish upon a star for that winning cake. You can join the day’s competition by baking a cake for our esteemed judges.
This year’s Head Judge is once again our treasured reigning DIVA Hall of Fame winner the lovely Claire de Lune from Claire’s Kitchen at Le Salon, joined by Christina Batista who placed 5th on last year’s Masterchef and Marty Boetz from Cooks Co-Op on the Hawkesbury River and ex head chef of Longrain, to select the best of the best from each of the seven categories.
There’ll also be a people’s choice award, best in show, best decorated and best fairy tale cake ….and of course the crowd’s favourite, the worst in show! Spin the chocolate wheel! Throw a cream pie at a local celebrity! Win a raffle prize! Enjoy live performances! And have some cake!
BGF are also thrilled to announce that our very special guest judge is none other than the amazing Adriano Zumbo, one of Australia’s most celebrated patissiers famous for his delicious macarons, five stores nation-wide, numerous cook books and many television appearances including his terrifying Croquembouche challenges on Masterchef.
After judging, the winning cakes will be auctioned off to the highest lucky bidder by our auctioneer Romany Brooks. All other entries will be available for purchase by silent auction. Will you be this year’s People’s Choice winner? Or the Best Professional Cake? Rise to the challenge and start your mixers!
