Officially unveiled at Brunswick Depot this week, Yarra Trams has revealed the winning tram from their 2023 #AllAboard Pride Tram design competition.
Designed by artist Marco Pennacchia, the tram is a visible symbol that everyone is welcome on-board Melbourne’s trams and a message of inclusion and support for Melbourne’s rainbow communities.
The newly wrapped D1-Class tram will spread the #AllAboard message across routes 5, 6, 16 and 72 for the rest of this year and most of 2023.
This is the first tram to be designed by a local Victorian artist as part of a state-wide design competition and selected following a public vote.
“Everyone is welcome on-board at Yarra Trams, and our #AllAboard tram is an important symbol of Keolis Downer’s commitment to diversity and inclusion,” said Acting Chief Executive, Adele McCarthy.
“I’m proud that Marco’s stunning mural will feature on one of our trams throughout 2023 and I hope it brings joy and pride to Melbourne’s rainbow communities whenever they see it.”
