Welcome to Queer Country: Chillout Festival 2021

Chillout-Festival-Flag-2020Taking place across two weeks from 27 February to 8 March 2021, the ChillOut Festival transforms the Central Highlands of Victoria into Queer Country in Australia’s largest and much-loved LGBTIQ event.

To celebrate the impact this major event has on the community, Festival-goers are invited to gather at Lake Daylesford on 3 March to participate in the planting of 30 trees becoming a Grove of Gratitude – an initiative to honour past and present community members, with a special ceremony to follow.

ChillOut Festival Director Michele Bauer said this community planting in Daylesford will be an enduring and natural reflection of LGBTIQ+ gratitude. “Daylesford has always held a special place in the hearts of the LGBTIQ+ community. It is a magical, transformative place and this gesture is living memorial for everyone to enjoy and reflect upon,’’ said Ms Bauer.

The 24th ChillOut Festival promises ten days of fabulous events all carefully curated to bring joy and colour, in a safe environment. In 2021, ChillOut Festival will dive deep into a diverse selection of wellbeing activities, family-friendly theatre and arts events as well as a massive (and COVID-safe) street parade, a special Queer Health Expo and the Festival debut of the award-winning podcast and live storytelling project Queerstories with host and director Maeve Marsden.

ChillOut Festival is proud to announce prominent media figure, Patricia Karvelas as its 2021 Ambassador. Patricia is the presenter of Radio National’s popular Drive program and has been a senior journalist in the Australian media landscape for 15 years, beginning her professional career in broadcast journalism at the ABC and SBS as both a producer and presenter. As part of ChillOut 2021, Patricia will host a must-see, must-hear in-conversation event.

ChillOut Festival is an all-inclusive, family-friendly event celebrating the diversity and positivity of the LGBTIQ+ community that takes place in Daylesford from Saturday 27 February to Monday 8 March 2021.
