The Queen’s Feast – A Last Supper For All The Senses

SS-The-Queen's-FeastAs part of the Sydney Solstice program, Kat Dopper (Creative Director Sydney Mardi Gras 2020, Creator of Heaps Gay) announces The Queen’s Feast – A Last Supper For All The Senses, a three-hour curated culinary journey and performance experience filled with soundscapes, movement, live music and unexpected surprises on Sunday 13 June 2021.

Hosted at the iconic Sydney Town Hall, the sumptuous feast will shine a spotlight on LGBT food legends, performance artists and musicians. Charged by femme energy, the ritualistic feast will span across three hours with the curated experience transporting guests on a sensory journey guided by the phases of the moon.

The last supper welcomes all to the Awakening Lunch or Nightshade Dinner with Sydney Town Hall transformed into a debaucherous Mess Hall and dress up extravaganza.

The feast boasts a four-course menu created at the hands of some of Australia’s top female chefs including Bloodwood Head Chef and Co-Owner, Claire Van Vuuren, Bart Jr.’s George Woodyard, MasterChef Alumni, Sarah Tiong and Dessert Queen, Anna Polyviou. Pairing the goblets of wine to the feast, winemaker, Lisa McGuigan has crafted a wine list to splurge on.

Performance artist, Melanie Ree will host and narrate the event, guiding guests through the various lunar and solar phases. The event will be complete with music direction by the renowned Stereogamous, with organ players, hip hop artists and live music to accompany the stage. Designed by Kat Dopper, the event has been styled by Blue by Name and Sophie The Stylist.

“This show is about paying homage to incredible female talent, chefs, artists, designers, creators and community,” says Dopper. “When I Googled celebrity chefs in Sydney, the Top Ten were men, that’s not right. Claire, George, Anna and Sarah are powerhouse and I can’t wait to eat their food.”

Guests are encouraged to dress for the last supper and harness the new moon with suggested attire of reds, blacks, leathers and lace with the event styled by Blue by Name and Sophie the Stylist. Let your creativity and minds run wild as you step into a dark twisted fantasy land of fun.

Celebrating Sydney’s world-class cultural scene, The Queen’s Feast is part of Sydney Solstice, a NSW Government initiative celebrating the hand in hand nature of the hospitality and entertainment industries.

Taking place in the lead up to the longest night of the year, the event will showcase the best of Sydney’s innovation, diversity and vibrant culture, inviting revellers to truly immerse themselves in our global city.

“To make up for 12 months of lost gatherings, the feast is a time for everyone to come together and celebrate food, art and community,” said Dopper.

“Hosted at the iconic Town Hall, everyone will feast together, shift some bad juju and leave like you’ve just been to “church”. It’s a huge dress up dining experience that’s not to be missed.”
