Sunshine Coast Pride Festival 2016

Sunshine Coast Pride 2016Now in its 8th year, the Sunshine Coast Pride Festival is 3 days of activities, artists, venues, parties and performance, with a diverse line-up ranging from folk to dance musicians, DJs and Drag Queens all celebrating the Sunshine Coast’s GLBTIQ community.

Commencing in 2008, the Festival was an initiative of the Queensland Aids Council (QuAC) to engage with the local LGBTIQ community. Since their humble beginnings, they have grown to become a weekend long Festival, with a variety of events, activities and entertainment to cater for all ages and interests.

The festival’s theme this year is Out ‘N’ Equal – reflecting the desire of our community to be recognised, treated with respect, and to be treated equally.

The festival’s key event is the Sunshine Coast Pride Fair Day held at the Amphitheatre at the Eumundi Markets on Saturday 27 February. A variety of stallholders from businesses, health and other not for profit organisations will be present, as well as the craft stalls available at the Eumundi Markets.

Entertainment throughout the day includes Andrea Kirwin, Mettaphor, Annie J and Fusion, Darren Adler, Gambler, Lizzy Maynes and Burlesque L’amour. Bring your Pooch and enter the Pet Parade – there are some great prizes to be won!

Other events over the weekend include: Pride Party Night at The Reef Hotel on Friday 26 February; Pride Show Night at The Waterfront Hotel on Saturday 27 February; and the Pride Play Day on Sunday 28 February.
