Perth International Cabaret Festival (PICF) is thrilled to announce its return to the home of cabaret – the stunning His Majesty’s Theatre from 10-23 June 2024.
The festival features a collection of powerhouse Australian performers including Caroline O’Connor, Vika and Linda Bull, Deborah Conway and Willy Zygier, finishing with the glorious Tom Burlinson and the world-class stellar line-up of the Closing Night Gala.
Perth International Cabaret Festival Artistic Director Michael Griffiths, says that the 2024 festival, easily the biggest and brightest yet, is an embarrassment of riches showcasing the finest local, national and international cabaret voices.
“I couldn’t be more proud to have helped bring these artists together under one majestic roof and look forward to celebrating 10 extraordinary nights of cabaret with you in June,” said Michael Griffiths, Perth International Cabaret Festival Artistic Director.
Highlights of the 2024 Perth International Cabaret Festival include:
- Caroline O’Connor: International musical theatre legend brings her World Premiere My Musical Life, with highlights from her captivating and award-winning extraordinary career that has spanned from Broadway to the West End and across the globe.
- Vika & Linda Bull: Australia’s favourite sisters Vika and Linda Bull will premiere their show An Evening With Vika & Linda. This beautifully paired back concert, accompanied by close collaborator Cameron Bruce on piano, will truly showcase the rich beauty of their voices together and their remarkable creative journey.
- Deborah Conway & Willy Zygier: Based on Conway’s book, Songs from the Book of Life delves into the behind-the-scenes details of one of the most powerful and iconic women who changed the face of the Australian music industry.
- Simply Brill: The Teens Who Stole 60s Rock n Roll: Acclaimed cabaret performers Amelia Ryan, Michaela Burger and Michael Griffiths shine in this triumphant celebration of the teenage songwriters such as Carole King, Neil Sedaka and many more, who were housed in the Brill Building in New York to write the iconic hits of the 1960s.
- Tom Burlinson: Still Swingin’ is a dazzling, energetic show highlighting a montage of swing classics made famous by the great superstars such as Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr, Nat ‘King’ Cole, Dean Martin and of course Frank Sinatra. Award-winning performer Tom Burlinson draws from his song-book of swing favourites and the history behind them.
- Gina Williams AM & Guy Ghouse: Kooma Koort is a free event from WA’s beloved duo, presented in part Noongar and part English and suitable for the whole family.
- Carla Lippis: Dark Ritual. The dress circle bar is unlikely to ever be the same again after Carla Lippis is done with it! Described as a live grenade with lungs, she’s going to turn the volume down, switch on the red light and invite you into the world of shimmering electric guitars and vocal melodies.
- Mark Nadler: Cole Porter After Dark. Direct from New York, internationally acclaimed, multi-award-winning cabaret Mark Nadler explores the wit, the romance and the life of arguably the greatest of American songwriters; Cole Porter.
- Christina Bianco: Crowd Control. Internationally acclaimed star of stage and screen, Christina will channel your favourite vocalists and pop-culture personalities as they wrestle for stage time, in her uncanny impressions.
- Michael Griffiths: It’s A Sin: Songs of Love and Shame – a sinful evening of songs of love and shame ) drawing from the Pet Shop Boys playlist) and the trials of ‘coming out’ in the 90s.
- Festival venue gem, On the Boards – a cabaret festival created pop-up venue where the performance and the audience are both on the stage of His Majesty’s Theatre with the audience seated at cabaret tables and the auditorium providing a stunning backdrop to the show, returns in 2024
- Closing Night Gala: Festival favourite, the gala, returns with a brand-new line-up of artists that have been included within the 2024 festival. One not to miss!
