MGLC celebrates 25 years

MGLC_editorial APNThe Melbourne Gay and Lesbian Chorus turns 25 this year and are celebrating in the best way they know… by putting on a fabulous show Celebrate on Saturday 15 August at the St. Kilda Town Hall.

Since its inception in 1990, the Melbourne Gay and Lesbian Chorus (MGLC) has committed itself to supporting the GLBTIQ community of Melbourne, and have performed at a variety of events including the Stonewall commemorative service each year for the Metropolitan Community Church (MCC), World AIDS Day ceremonies and services for the People Living With AIDS (PLWHA).

In its 25 years, the Chorus has toured regularly including the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, the Festival of Voices in Hobart, and the Gay Games in Amsterdam (1998) and Chicago (2006). They have produced five CDs: Kaleidoscope (1996); Inflight (1998); Feelin’ Groovy (2006); Evolution (2006); and Hallelujah! It’s The Chorus (2013).

In this special concert, the Chorus will look back at some of their favourite songs from the past 25 years and will serenade you with some new ones arranged by some very talented musicians including their Musical Director, Mr Drew Downing.
