Held for over 30 years, Canberra’s largest LGBTI event, Bushdance is back at the Yarralumla Woolshed for a fun night of dancing with people of all flavours on Saturday 15 November.
Dust off your hat, polish your boots and get ready to kick up some dust, as the live band leads you through those dances you may remember from primary school – like Strip the Willow, The Waves of Bondi, as well as some crazy polkas and some more genteel promenades.
By the end of the night you’ll have danced with everyone, caught up with old friends, made some new ones and helped raise cash for Canberra’s LGBTI community. Dressing in a theme is all part of the fun – it’s a night of singlets, jeans, twirling dresses, chaps, check shirts, rhinestones, akubras, hats and boots.
The good folk at Pink Tennis – Canberra Gay and Lesbian Tennis Club – who organise Bushdance, tell us the Woolshed gets hot and recommend you don’t wear heels or open shoes – as your feet will take a beating!
Bushdance is a night full of crazy fun and non-stop dancing. Just ask any of the 600-odd people that come along every year from around the country. There will be a BBQ and a bar – so no BYO!
