Briefs Factory: The Works (review)

Briefs Factory: The Works – photos by Sean BreadsellBriefs Factory: The Works isn’t just a show – it’s a full-throttle sensory takeover. From the moment the lights drop, the Spiegeltent at Spiegel Haus Melbourne crackles with mischief and anticipation, and at the centre of the spectacle stands the magnetic Shivannah (Fez Faanana).

Commanding the room with razor-sharp wit and irresistible charisma, Shivannah doesn’t just host – Shivannah orchestrates chaos with precision, pulling surprises (and plenty of laughs) from famously voluminous sleeves.

Meanwhile, Dylan Rodriguez and Luke Hubbard push boundaries in all the right ways, their performances are daring, fluid, and fiercely expressive, dissolving lines between gender, spectacle, and pure theatrical bravado.

Then there’s Benjamin Butterfly, whose aerial work quite literally takes things to new heights, graceful, powerful, and gasp-inducing in equal measure. And Hollywould Star? A dazzling homage to classic showgirl glamour, reimagined with a modern, subversive twist that feels both nostalgic and thrillingly fresh.

The soundtrack pumps, the energy surges, and the entire experience feels like stepping into a decadent, late-night fantasy where anything can (and probably will) happen.

Briefs Factory haven’t just redefined modern cabaret – they’ve set it on fire. And at Spiegel Haus, they’re letting it burn gloriously out of control. The Works is unpredictable, a little dangerous, and completely intoxicating.
