With sell-out seasons across the globe and prior to their return to the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe, Out Cast Theatre – Australia’s longest running LGBTI+ theatre company returns to The Butterfly Club from 11 July with a disgraceful homage to the ancient Greek theatre, Bitch, Antigone.
A wicked retelling of the Greek classic with a few diversions as three desperate, confused actors attempt to claim the glittering prize at the Dionysian Drama Festival without killing each other first or launching into Barbra Streisand numbers. Written and directed by Steven Dawson, Bitch, Antigone stars Nathan Butler, Scott Middleton and Wayne Pearn. The Gods will be weeping!
Steven Dawson is an Australian actor, director of over 65 productions and writer of 55 works which have been performed across Australia, and in Chicago, Edinburgh, London and New York. Graduating from the NIDA Director’s Course in 1985, Dawson was a member of the NIDA Playwrights Studio and holds a Diploma in Performance from the University Of Western Sydney. He is the Artistic Director of Out Cast Theatre – Australia’s longest running LGBTI+ theatre company.
