Circus Oz: Here, There and Everywhere! (review)

Here, There and Everywhere! is a gloriously unhinged ride: part circus, part sketch comedy, part rock concert, and entirely unpredictable. The show doesn’t so much begin as burst into life, tumbling headfirst into a whirlwind of acrobatics, live music, and playful absurdity.

Under Nicci Wilks’ direction (who also makes a cameo), the ensemble (Sharon Gruenert, Leo Pentland, Angelique Ross, Hannah Richards, Spenser Inwood, Debra Batton, Claire Bindoff and Mozes) feels like a perfectly mismatched family – each performer bringing their own flavour of mischief and artistry.

One minute you’re watching a jaw-dropping feat of strength or balance, the next you’re laughing at a moment of pure silliness that somehow makes the whole thing even more impressive. There’s a genuine joy in how the cast ricochet between precision and chaos, as if the show is constantly teetering on the edge of delightful disaster, but never quite falling.

It doesn’t just accompany the action – it drives it, turning the stage into a pulsing, playful playground where every flip, stumble, and triumph feels amplified. It’s loud, it’s raucous, and it fits the anarchic spirit perfectly.

With the iconic OZ letters framing the stage, the production pops. Jarred Dewey’s costumes are bold and characterful, while Gina Gascoigne’s lighting keeps everything moving at a brisk, energetic pace. The staging gives the performers enough structure to bounce off, climb over, and occasionally wreak havoc upon.

What makes Here, There and Everywhere! truly special is its inclusivity of tone. It’s genuinely for everyone – kids will be wide-eyed at the acrobatics, adults will appreciate the wit, and everyone in between will find themselves swept up in the sheer exuberance of it all.

It’s messy in the best way. It’s silly without being shallow. And above all, it’s big, bold and fun. Circus Oz has returned home with a show that feels both world-class and wonderfully local, and it’s an absolute joy to watch. And don’t forget to “buy a t-shirt!”
