Disco Pigs

GR-Disco-Pigs-Antoinette-Davis-and-Jonathon-ShillingA provocative game-changer that catapulted Irish theatre into the present day, Gavin Roach presents Disco Pigs by Enda Walsh at the Meat Market – Stables: 17 – 22 October, as part of the 2022 Melbourne Fringe.

Born at the same time on the same day in the same hospital, Pig and Runt have been inseparable ever since. They speak in their own language, play by their own rules, and create a world for themselves in which boundaries blur between truth and illusion.

But with the approach of their seventeenth year, and accompanying sexual awakenings and dawning awareness of love, and different kinds of love, Runt begins to wonder what might lie outside the world they have constructed for themselves and to yearn for her own individuality apart from Pig.

This night is going to be different from others – the inseparable are about to separate and which one will survive depends on which one can break free.

Enda Walsh is a multi-award-winning Irish playwright, who shot to fame when he won both the George Devine Award and the Stewart Parker Award in 1997 with his play Disco Pigs. In 2007 and 2008 Enda won Fringe First Awards at two consecutive Edinburgh Festivals for his plays The Walworth Farce and The New Electric Ballroom.
