Do you hear the people sing? You will, when Club Broadway transforms The Domain into the world’s biggest musical-theatre dance party this Sunday 16 November. From Chicago to Wicked, Les Mis to Mamma Mia, get ready to defy gravity and dance the day (and night) away with 10,000 kindred spirits at the most fabulous, feel-good, celebration the city has ever seen.
Created by multi-award-winning DJ Dan Murphy, Club Broadway is a global musical theatre dance party phenomenon that has played to more than 90 sold-out shows across Australia, New Zealand and the UK. Now, it’s stepping into the Sydney spotlight for its biggest, boldest production yet.
“Everything audiences love about Club Broadway has been multiplied, amplified and thrillified into a high-energy hybrid of a festival, dance party and show, where thousands of musical-theatre lovers of all ages can celebrate the magic, music and mayhem of their favourite musicals,” said DJ Dan Murphy, who founded the concept in 2023.
“Because I’m crazy – my motto has always been more is more,” laughs Murphy. “I could picture thousands of people of all ages in The Domain, surrounding the stage, singing at the top of their lungs and having the day and night of their lives,” he said.
Guests can expect a glittering line-up of musical-theatre royalty and local legends including Casey Donovan (&Juliet, Sister Act, 9 to 5), the entire cast of Back to the Future Musical, currently playing in Sydney, Vidka Makan (Hamilton, SIX), Javon King (Jesus Christ Superstar, currently starring in Back to the Future), Tainga Toa (Hamilton, The Lucky Country), Raph Wong (The Phantom of the Opera, Sister Act), Sarah Murr (&Juliet, Hadestown), Jacob Rozario (Dear Evan Hansen, & Juliet), plus an all-star cast of drag queens including Minnie Cooper, Aida, Coco Jumbo, Ivy Leaguee, Vybe and Carmen Geddit.
Presented in the round, the massive outdoor dance floor encircles the stage for uninterrupted views from every angle. And the soundtrack? Musical-theatre showtunes only. Think Wicked, Hamilton, SIX, Mamma Mia, The Sound of Music, The Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, Les Misérables, Frozen, Grease, Hairspray and so many more – seven hours of back-to-back, singalong showstoppers from stage and screen.
