Taking place on Widjabul Wia-bal jugun in the Bundjalung Nation, Tropical Fruits Inc invites you to their New Year’s festival celebration, Bush Magik.
This year’s theme pays homage to the beauty and enchantment of this great land, while celebrating the connection between the Australian bush and the magikal forces that have shaped the landscapes of ourselves and each other as LGBTQ+ people.
A festival for up to 2000 people, Bush Magik is a return to their grassroots & rhizomes – consisting of three dance parties: Camp Party (30 December), NYE Party (31 December) and the Recovery Party (1 January).
Tropical Fruits have assembled a ‘magikal’ line-up of DJs and Performers including: Annabelle Gaspar | Matt Vaughan | Nick Wales | Feisty | Jason De Cox | Crescendoll | Dolly Llama | Guy Grey | Sweaty Baby | She-J | DJ Gr3Y | Neesha Alexander | Kat Steele | Slo Dolio | DJ Magnus | SarahTone’N | Buck Naked | Hani | Chris Lego | Hydrafemme | Yāldã | Destiny Haz Arrived | Ruby Teys | Bob Downe | Cindy Pastel | Blake Lawrence | Benjamin Butterfly | Felicia Foxx | Jex Lopez | Myki Jay | Pippin | with more to be announced…

Camp Party – Saturday 30 December:
A welcome warm up for those camping on site! DJ’s, drag, activities and frivolity to the max – with special appearances by some Fruity favourites.
New Year’s Eve Party – Sunday 31 December
A smorgasbord of light & sound: top-shelf dance music with state of the art sound & lighting design across two main stages (The Hive & The Den), live music in The Nest (low-sensory space), revel in the guts and glamour of our beloved Cabaret and ring in the New Year with a spectacular fireworks display. Experience the fine culmination of our community efforts in night of maximum joy & celebration of another rotation around the sun.
New Year’s Day Recovery Party – Monday 1 January
A powerful arts & cultural program kicking off from 10am, with workshops, panels, activities, coffee a plenty + some moist & misty water installations – dance all day and deep into the night with the bar reopening at 4.00pm, and witness the crooked delights of the Next Day Cabaret.
Camping:
Want to really make the most of your Tropical Fruits NYE experience? Each year the Lismore Showgrounds transforms into a wonderous Fruity world as our campsite fills with festival attendees from all over Australia and the world.
It’s a fabulous way to make new friends, share a drink or a meal in the communal kitchen area, have spontaneous campsite gatherings and enjoy events such as the exclusive campsite party on 30 December. The campsite operates 27 December 2023 – 4 January 2024. Camping numbers are strictly limited and needs to be pre-booked!
Volunteering:
Volunteers are the heart and soul of Tropical Fruits – they cant present the NYE festival without your support, energy, and sparkle. Volunteering is fun and rewarding and a great way to connect with the Tropical Fruits community, learn new things, have great experiences and make new friends. You are essential to the success of the event.
Tropical Fruits hopes you will join them for an amazing Bush Magik Festival. Please plan, party safely, stay cool and look after yourself and your friends…
