On Sunday 5 October, Umina Beach will come alive as Coastal Twist Festival’s Coastie Carnie Fair Day transforms the beachfront park into a kaleidoscope of colour, music, food, and community connection.

Set against the backdrop of golden sand and rolling surf, Fair Day invites visitors to make a day of it – dip in the ocean, spread out a picnic rug, and soak up a program that blends carnival fun with cultural celebration.

From 10.00am to 5.00pm, this free, all-ages event offers something for everyone, from dazzling mainstage performances to handmade markets, global street food, and family-friendly fun.

Headliners such as Greg Gould, Stellar Addiction, Non Binary Code, Frock Hudson and Sexy Galexy join a line-up of local legends, DJs and community choirs to deliver an unforgettable soundtrack to your day by the sea.

Families can enjoy the Rainbow Family Area, featuring Aboriginal Storytime with Tim Selwyn from Girri Girra, Drag Storytime, a kids’ disco, and all-day circus play.

Teens have their own dedicated hangout space, while dog lovers won’t want to miss the Puparazzi Pooch Parade at 10:30am – a costumed canine spectacular hosted by Glamour Boi Sexy Galexy. With a fully stocked local bar and endless food options, it’s the ultimate day trip destination.

More than just a celebration, Coastie Carnie Fair Day carries a deeper social message. With this year’s theme Strength in Unity, Coastal Twist Festival highlights the importance of visibility and togetherness.

“In these divisive times, the survival of freedom depends on our collective strength and unity in the fight for human rights. No one is free until we are all free,” says Festival Director Glitta Supernova. “Events like this remind us that diversity is something to embrace, not fear – and that through community, we build a fairer world.”

Now in its seventh year, Coastal Twist Festival has cemented itself as a landmark event for the Central Coast. Running from 30 September to 5 October, the festival spans six days and fifteen events, including cabaret, drag brunches, dance parties, workshops, and community gatherings. What began as a bold idea has grown into a cultural movement, making the Central Coast a beacon of inclusivity and creativity.

So this long weekend, swap the city for the coast. Bring your sunscreen, beach umbrella, family, friends, and furry companions for a day where culture meets coastline. Coastie Carnie Fair Day isn’t just entertainment – it’s a seaside celebration of diversity, togetherness, and the very best of the Central Coast.
