The countdown is on to the 27th annual Feast Festival which launches on Saturday 9 November with its iconic Picnic In The Park at Botanic Park/Tainmuntilla.
More than 4000 people are expected to attend Feast’s hero event which returns with a bumper program including the always popular Feast Dog Show and a roster of glittering performances on stage, including for the first time artists from State Opera South Australia.
Roving entertainers, DJs, markets stalls, the return of the Queerlympics – including the handbag toss – a new wellness corner and break-out space, children’s activities and a showcase of Feast artists are also included in the non-stop entertainment bill when gates open at 11.00am.
Making its debut at Botanic Park/Tainmuntilla, Picnic in the Park serves as the springboard for the Feast Festival which brings together more than 900 artists, performers, volunteers and production crew across 82 events from 9 – 24 November 2024.
“Picnic in the Park is a highlight of the Feast Festival calendar and whether you’re coming with friends, family or flying solo there’s something for everyone,” Feast Festival CEO Tish Naughton says.
“We have a bigger site this year allowing us to put on more activities, increase the number of food and drink outlets and give attendees more space to soak up the Pridevember atmosphere in a gorgeous parkland setting.”
“We can’t wait to see who will be crowned Best in Show at our much-loved Feast Dog Show and we’re thrilled this year to have State Opera soprano Jessica Mills and pianist Mark Stefanoff perform on our main stage.”
“While our opera season is on stage at Her Majesty’s Theatre, I’m delighted that our artform is included in this year’s Picnic in the Park for a first-ever collaboration with Feast Festival,” said State Opera Executive Director Mark Taylor.
“It’s the perfect opportunity to connect with audiences in an informal, unexpected, and spectacular way and celebrate the power of the human voice,” added Taylor.
“Mark (Stefanoff) and I are very excited to perform at Feast Festival. It is such a creative, diverse and inclusive space, and we are honoured to be a part of it. See you there for some opera hits and plenty of glitter,” said State Opera South Australia soprano Jessica Mills.
