The Aesop Queer Library returns

The Aesop Queer Library Prahran 2025With a belief in the enduring power of literature to inspire understanding and foster connection, the Aesop Queer Library returns to Melbourne from 15 to 19 July for its fifth edition.

The annual initiative once again transforms Aesop’s Flinders Lane store into a temporary library celebrating LGBTQIA+ voices, where visitors are invited to select a complimentary book by a queer author to take home – no purchase required, while stocks last.

Inspired by Aesop’s longstanding connection to the written word, this year’s edition, Body of Work, explores the body as a bridge between our private selves and the wider world.

Through stories that centre queer experiences, the collection highlights literature’s ability to challenge assumptions, deepen empathy and bring greater visibility to perspectives that have too often been overlooked.

Since launching in 2021, Aesop’s Libraries initiative has gifted more than 115,000 books worldwide, reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices and celebrating storytelling as a catalyst for community and conversation.

The Aesop Queer Library has become a valued annual fixture, offering readers the opportunity to discover new authors while reinforcing the importance of representation within contemporary literature.

Extending its impact beyond the page, this year’s initiative will also see the Aesop Foundation make a donation to Minus18, supporting the organisation’s work with LGBTQIA+ young people across Australia.

Together, the literary offering and charitable partnership underscore the Queer Library’s continuing role as a celebration of stories that affirm identity, encourage belonging and remind us of the transformative power of the written word.

The Aesop Queer Library will take over the Aesop Flinders Lane Shop (268 Flinders Lane, Melbourne) from 15 – 19 July 2026. For more information, visit: www.aesop.com for details.
