The Huxleys A Star is Born from the series Gender FluidsIn its 3rd year, the South Side Festival is bringing engaging stories, captivating performances, and immersive experiences to Frankston City in May 2024!

Expand your sustainable skillset with the Slow Fashion Workshop Series by the Frankston Council Waste Circularity Team in collaboration with the Frankston Library Team. Save your favourite clothing from landfill! Learn the basics of mending and hand sewing, be inspired by the Creative Mending session, and learn how to reduce your waste in the Scrap Fabric workshop.

House of Fast Fashun allows you to become the designer, the maker, and the catwalk model of recycled clothing! Join the Fast Fashun team in rummaging through the piles of discarded clothing, presenting a runway show, and keeping your zero-waste garment!

Embrace the magic, ignite your imagination, and strike a pose with Neon Fields. Set to illuminate Frankston, it’s the perfect place whether you’re in the mood for a leisurely wander through the illuminated gardens, a charming evening picnic surrounded by the glow of neon, or striking a pose with the world famous Angel Wings, Neon Fields has some for every adventurer!

After 10 years of selling out festivals worldwide, the Briefs boys are touring to Frankston with their hills hoist poised ready to air their Dirty Laundry in this brand-new party cabaret. Led by Fez Faanana aka Shivanana, featuring a line-up of classic Briefs boys as well as some shiny new boys and toys.

Live music fuses with spoken word and film in All The People You’ve Never Met – this one hour show written and performed by award-winning musician/rapper/story teller Joel Ma (Joelistics). Be transported to another realm with type-a-poet, a magical, meditative, one-on-one performance art piece, and take a personalised inked poem home with you.

An informal showing of passionate, playful, and provocative performance material developed and created by Pony Cam alongside a group of local community members aged 55+. Exploring legacy, intergenerational communication, and the taboos around age, The Show Goes On will be an informal sharing of the discoveries made throughout this creative process.

Nestled amongst the trees in the heart of the beautiful George Pentland gardens is Bird Child Spirit. Listen closely and you will hear magic sounds composed from the voices of children, emanating from hidden speakers and creating a unique experience for all your senses. Featuring the voices of students from Seaford Primary School.

Looking for wellness? Take a dunk in the bay this May with South Side Sea Soak, a group cold water immersion session! Or book yourself in for You Time Yoga at PARC and see out your weekend with a little piece of mindfulness.

The Huxleys will be awakening Cube 37 with Gender Fluids – a playful, sparkling exploration of the gender fluidity of specific sea creatures. Immerse by Fiona Basile is residing in the Atrium Gallery of the Frankston Arts Centre, and showcases and celebrates the raw beauty of our bay and an eclectic group of open water swimmers who dive into the deep each day.

Jaq Grantford’s The Human Spirit (Curved Wall Gallery, Frankston Arts Centre) poses the question “How much does a portrait tell us of a person?” Impossible Bodies by Christina Darras (Mezzanine Gallery, Frankston Arts Centre) depicts a series of changes internally and externally. New flexibility is invented and bodies transform into extreme acrobats performing in a void scene.

Be swept away by the glitz and glamour of Brenda Bressed’s Cube 37 Takeover! BingoGalasSunday Sessions, oh my! Whether you’re looking for laughs, to celebrate the richness and diversity of the performing arts, or for chill vibes that bring you back down to earth, Brenda Bressed has something for you!

Brenda is also taking the main stage along with Fanny Adams for Brenda and Fanny Do The Divas! Prepare to be captivated as they channel iconic divas, transforming into legends of stage and screen. Celebrate Mother’s Day in style with the Mothers Go Wild High Tea, including a Twisted High Tea experience, bottomless bubbles, wine, or soft drink, and featuring Brenda Bressed!

Or, head down to PARC for the day and be treated to free entry for mums and mum figures! Whether its a shared gym sesh, a group exercise class, or a relaxing spa and sauna, its all on offer and available for free with Mother’s Day at PARC.

We’ve got the family covered this year, Moon Sailors is an enchanting, free-roaming puppet performance that brings Frankston’s marine ecosystem to life! Interact with the constellation whale at the Frankston Library Forecourt or the Frankston Beach Foreshore and become the next generation of coastal caretakers. Frankston Skatepark is running free clinics for all ages at Frankston Skate Park Family Fun Day, free equipment hire and a community sausage sizzle!
