Sydney Theatre Company will host a Queer Community Night on Friday 3 October during the season of Whitefella Yella Tree.
Once in a blue moon, in the middle of nowhere, two teenage boys meet under a lemon tree. When they look at each other, it’s tense, exciting, and strange. Ty and Neddy fall madly in love, as teenagers are wont to do. After a rough start, a fragile friendship fruits into a heady romance.
Co-directed with subtlety and sophistication by Griffin Theatre Company’s Artistic Director Declan Greene and Wiradjuri and Worimi theatremaker Amy Sole, Whitefella Yella Tree is a heart-warming and heartbreaking story about love, Country, and Blak queerness.
The evening will feature a special post-show performance by First Nations Fem Queen Tynga Williams – a powerhouse multidisciplinary artist known for serving high kicks, fierce dips, and iconic splits.
Audiences are also invited to take part in one of STC’s Queer Backstage Tours before the show. The tour will explore the company’s rich history of First Nations and LGBTQIA+ storytelling.
In addition, $25 Community Tickets are available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to attend performances of Whitefella Yella Tree.
Whitefella Yella Tree plays at Sydney Theatre Company until 18 October as part of the 2025 season.
