Perth Pride Parade 2014

PrideWA ParadeCelebrating its 25th year and the culmination of the 2014 PrideFest, the Perth Pride Parade hits the streets of Northbridge this Saturday 22 November.

Returning to a night-time event, the Parade will feature colourful floats and creative entries, as members of Perth’s Pride community and an expected 50,000 supporters come together with plenty of glamour, glitter and lights to celebrate to celebrate diversity and inclusion.

With more than 50 floats, the Parade will kick off at 8pm on the corner of William St and Brisbane St, make its way down James St and finish at Russell Square. Headlining the parade is the exciting first inclusion of THE Priscilla Shoe, from the 1994 musical hit, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

New participants also include The Salvation Army – whose involvement, highlight the achievements of Pride since its beginnings and reconcile for the wrongs experienced by the LGBTIQ community throughout the years. Old favourites will a also take to the streets including the Pride Float, Inflatable Golden Dragon, Renault Motorcade and the WA Police Pipe Band.

Then celebrate at the Garden Party at the Perth Cultural Centre. Enjoy a drink with friends while taking in the stunning city-views from the beautiful urban orchard setting. DJ Curlee will be spinning popular queer anthems, while Miss Hula Honey and the Sugar Blue Burlesque Troop will be on the loose entertaining revellers alongside house/dubstep band Pimps of Sound and roving audio artistes The Sirens!

2014 marks 25 years since the first protest rally in Perth in 1989 that lead to the formation of Pride WA. The Parade and Garden Party will bring this year’s theme to life to: Reflect on beginnings, Renew hope for the future, and Rejoice in achievements – making it must-do PrideFest events.
