Long Drive Together

Midsumma-2024-Long-Drive-Together-Neptune-HenriksenTwo friends. Fifteen years. One road trip. From critically acclaimed writer/director Neptune Henriksen, comes a frank and heartfelt play about the beauty of intersectional friendship, second coming-of-age, and moving through grief – Long Drive Together.

Long Drive Together is the story of two high school friends, who reunite after years apart, now thirty years old, on a road trip from Adelaide to country NSW. The pair’s destination is their hometown and the grave of their mutual friend. An attempt to honour her on the fifteenth anniversary of her death by suicide.

Along the way the pair joyfully reminisce, discuss tough realities, and wonder if they’re still as close as they once were. Based on true events, Long Drive Together delves into the deep wounds of loved ones left behind in the wake of suicide and the depth of connection created through such tragedy.

Written and directed by Neptune Henriksen, Long Drive Together features Neptune Henriksen and Lou Sebial.

Neptune Henriksen is a critically-acclaimed writer and award-winning director. Their work extends from solo comedy to novellas, from MCing to theatre, and is as wide-ranging as it is prolific.

Henriksen’s work is marked by their signature ability to take on taboo topics, with grace and humour. While putting on a show that combines eye-catching physicality and human truth.

In 2024, Henriksen is touring two works: a two-hand play, Long Drive Together; and a solo comedy, Being A Woman For Money.

Lou Sebial is a newcomer to the stage and brings their real life experience to their character of Dylan, a bisexual, nonbinary, POC from a small town.
