Homos in Kimonos

UntitledTwo of Australia’s hottest young cabaret icons come together for a camp-as-tits double bill extravaganza, Homos in Kimonos for a limited season at the 2014 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Brought together by their shared love of gaudy Japanese kimonos, Homos in Kimonos stars Will Hannagan (Melbourne) and James Halloran (Brisbane) and their alter egos, The Halloran and Mother Marxist. These two homos – who love their kimonos – promise a sparkling night of cabaret bliss.

In Highs, Lies and Shoestring Fries!, Will’s abusive tryst with his brash and bolshie drag alter ego Mother Marxist leads him to a narcissistic plan of self-commodification and fanciful fashion delusion. Accompanied by a live bluegrass band, The Scrimshaw Four, this is a quipster cabaret of cold war proportions.

In James and the Halloran, coy James plays unwitting host to his show-stealing vaudevillian alter ego, The Halloran. James makes his Melbourne debut, stealing the stage with his soaring counter-tenor vocals; his cabaret-opera inventions capturing the wonderful, the carnal and the downright weird.

Both accomplished cabaret and musical theatre performers, musicians, vocalists and composers in their own right, Will and James bring their impressive musical story-telling talents and scintillating humour to Melbourne audiences for this all-too-brief season.
