South Australia’s fabulous Picnic in the Park is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever – with a new location, extended hours and FREE entry on Saturday 22 November 2025.
Thanks to additional support from the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA) and the City of Adelaide, Feast Festival has dropped ticketed entry to SA’s most-celebrated LGBTQIA+ community event.
With extended hours from 11.00am to 9.00pm, delivering an extra two hours of late night partying at picnic’s new home in Whitmore Square/Iparrityi – there’ll be even more time to soak up the atmosphere at this iconic event.
“Every year we are blown away by the support for Picnic in the Park and we believe the changes we’re introducing this year will make the 2025 edition one of the best yet,” said Feast Festival CEO, Tish Naughton.
“There really is nothing like it on the South Australian social calendar in providing a joyful and inclusive space for people to celebrate who they are – and with the backing of AEDA and the City of Adelaide we are making it more accessible for people to attend.”
“Not only will 2025 feature the return of fan favourites such as the iconic Feast Dog Show as part of our bumper picnic program, we’ve also secured a special headline live music act to close out the night,” said Naughton.
“Whitmore Square/Iparrityi has long been a place of gathering, protest, and visibility, so it’s fitting that it is hosting this year’s Picnic in the Park,” said City of Adelaide Lord Mayor, Jane Lomax-Smith.
“On the 50th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality in South Australia, it’s powerful to see our city continue to support events that speak to liberation in all its forms, celebrating identity, reclaiming space, and creating room for everyone to be seen and heard,” said the Lord Mayor.
“Picnic in the Park has always been about more than just a fantastic day out – it’s about showing up for each other, our artists and our community,” said Feast Festival Chair, Penny McAuley.
“Making it free this year means more people can be part of that; it’s one small way we’re opening the gates a little wider, so more voices can be heard, more stories shared and more people can feel like they belong,” said McAuley.
“Events like Picnic in the Park play a big role in shaping Adelaide’s reputation as a vibrant, inclusive city,” said AEDA General Manager, Greg Ratsch. “As they grow, so do the opportunities, for local businesses, for our visitor economy and for the communities that bring our city to life.”
As the largest LGBTQIA+ event in South Australia, Picnic in the Park is a cornerstone of the Pridevember calendar, Feast Festival’s month-long celebration of queer arts, culture and connection.
The theme of this year’s Feast Festival is LIBERATION which runs deeper than legal reform but is about reclaiming space, telling stories, living without fear and celebrating queerness in all its forms. Festival and Picnic in the Park program details, including the headline performer, will be revealed in the coming weeks.
