Bake Off returns to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation

BGF-Bake-OffBake Off makes a grand return to the Sydney scene this April to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation (BGF).

This colourful, community-based event brings together professional and amateur bakers vying for the win across six categories – best decorated, best fete baking, best professional creation, best tart or pie, and the coveted best and worst cake.

Returning after a seven-year hiatus, the origins of this much-loved event go back to 1987 and ran for 30 years before it was retired in 2017. This year’s event will be held at The Imperial Hotel, Erskineville on Sunday 7 April 2024 from 2.00pm.

BGF Ambassador and Drag Race star Etcetera Etcetera will host the afternoon with entertainment and prizes on offer. Executive Chef and Director of Claire’s Kitchen at Le Salon, Darlinghurst Claire de Lune returns as a judge alongside first-time judge Councillor Adam Worling from the City of Sydney – both Claire and Adam are longstanding supporters of BGF.

“We’re so excited to bring Bake Off back for our 40th anniversary year” says Nick Lawson, BGF CEO. “This event originally ran for 30 years and was much more than a bake sale – it was a real community event that helped raise much-needed funds for those living with HIV. That hasn’t changed and fundraisers like this allow BGF to provide services and programs for people living with HIV today.”
